Lincoln County Has a Choice for MVD Services
Lincoln County News April 11, 2019
The look of someone that has waited in a long Motor Vehicle Department line just to be told “no” at the counter is all too familiar to most of us. There is often frustration, stress or extreme anger. Shelly McNutt recently opened Village MVD, a privately owned MVD office in Ruidoso Downs, to address the need for shorter wait times and faster service. McNutt said she recognized the frustration and acknowledges that people are short on time and sometimes need help with their vehicle registrations or title transfers.
“We have found that the problem for a typical customer often comes down to a small but crucial bit of information that is missing.” Said Debbie Heineken, Title Clerk Specialist at Village MVD. Debbie, a thirty-year resident of Ruidoso Downs, brings an extensive working knowledge of MVD transactions and a get it done attitude. She was the manager of the State of New Mexico MVD Office in Ruidoso Downs for more than eleven years and has been employed in this industry for more than thirteen years. “We get to be the good guys, all day every day.“ Heineken said. “All we do is fix problems, things that other offices have not been able or willing to do, we will get done.”
McNutt said the most important difference in her privately owned MVD office versus a state-run office is the ability of her staff to sit down with the customer that doesn’t have all the required paperwork or signatures and help them navigate the muddy waters that may come with finding the needed information. “We offer every single vehicle-related transaction.” she said. “Every single problem, anything. You bring it in, we can take care of it. There is a legal and correct way to fix every situation.”
Village MVD offers services ranging from VIN inspections to lost titles, or no titles. “We are Level 2 Vin Inspectors and can come to you, if needed. Many times, customers need VIN inspections done on several vehicles or on a RV that is hooked up, we offer the convenience of off-site VIN inspections to make things as easy as possible on our customers. We believe in going the extra mile.” said Heineken.
The company is licensed and regulated by the State of New Mexico. The full-service office assists individuals, dealers, banking and loan industries, construction, utility service companies and more. No appointment is necessary and the average wait time is less than ten minutes. Much of the work can be done through fax, text or email. They also have a drive up window and can handle your transaction through email or over the phone and you can drive up to retrieve your documents, registration sticker, etc.
Village MVD is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 26144 US Hwy 70 in Ruidoso Downs (next door to Sears). Call 575-651-1020 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also find them at www.villagemvd.com or on Facebook at VillageMVD@villagemvd.
