If you live in New Mexico and purchase any motor vehicle, you are required to put the title of your vehicle in your own name. This is important if you plan to purchase a new vehicle, or if you’re transferring the ownership of your vehicle. The Certificate of Title serves as proof of ownership and only one title is allowed to be issued and in existence at any one time for the same vehicle.
