TITLES

If you live in New Mexico and purchase any motor vehicle, you are required to put the title of your vehicle in your own name. This is important if you plan to purchase a new vehicle, or if you’re transferring the ownership of your vehicle. The Certificate of Title serves as proof of ownership and only one title is allowed to be issued and in existence at any one time for the same vehicle. Click here for more information and a list of necessary documents.

REGISTRATIONS

Many types of vehicles must be registered and titled in the state of New Mexico, including recreational vehicles, boats, motor homes, buses, manufactured or mobile homes, trailers and off-highway vehicles–such as ATVs or snowmobiles. The purpose of motor vehicle registrations is to establish a link between a vehicle and the owner or user of the vehicle for the state of New Mexico. Our friendly, trained, and highly knowledgeable staff are available to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your vehicle’s registration in New Mexico. It’s very important that all New Mexico residents get their motor vehicles registered properly. We stay on top of every change, so you can get back on the road as soon as possible! VIN INSPECTIONS

According to New Mexico state law, all vehicles coming to New Mexico from another state must have their VIN inspected by a certified MVD VIN Inspector. This process is to verify that the car in question belongs to you, and works to cut back on the number of stolen vehicles present in New Mexico. If you are new to the state of New Mexico, or if you have yet to have your out of state VIN inspected by a trained inspector, the friendly professionals at Village MVD are here to help!
